Two motorcyclists have been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a crash on State Highway 5, police say.

A motorcyclist, travelling in a group of seven, crashed into two others at Wairakei, near Taupo, about 3.25pm.

The two injured motorcyclists have been taken to Waikato Hospital.
