Police are investigating the discovery of a body on a Napier beach this morning.

A member of the public found the body of a middle-aged woman near a toilet block about 9.30am and raised the alarm.

Police have cordoned off a section of Westshore Beach reserve near James St.

Detective sergeant Nic Clere said police are still investigating how the woman died.

A campervan parked in the reserve carpark has been towed away for closer inspection.

Mr Clere said he wanted to hear from anyone who saw a white campervan near Westshore Beach yesterday or today.
