Four people charged in connection with the brutal killing of Featherston man Glen Jones now face murder charges.

Matthew McKinney, 28, Hayden Ranson, 27, Kristofer Jones, 23, and Tariana Jones, 32, were charged today at Masterton District Court with the murder of the supermarket worker last month.

They already faced charges of entering Jones' home with a wooden bat and an axe handle.

A fifth person, Toni Miller, 22, faces just the original armed burglary charge.

This morning Judge Peter Hobbs continued bail for Miller and Tariana Jones, despite the new, more serious, charge for the latter.

He also lifted a non-communication bail condition for Miller, meaning she can now contact her co-accused McKinney.

McKinney's lawyer, Mike Antunovic, said the pair were in a relationship and had a child together.

The three male accused were remanded in custody, with all five to reappear in court in April for a plea-evaluation hearing.

The group are yet to enter pleas to the charges.

Glen Jones' body was found at his Fitzherbert St flat in the early hours of January 12.
