Police are hunting a thief who held up a TAB in less than 30 seconds last night.

About 8.20pm a man approached the counter at the Botany TAB on Ti Rakau Dr, Auckland, with the blade of a knife visible underneath his sleeve.

"He's then said to the attendant, 'Give me the money or I'll hurt you'," a police spokeswoman said.

After being given cash from the till, the man fled the store running towards the Countdown supermarket.

The spokeswoman said the robbery lasted about 27 seconds.

Anyone with information about the robbery can call Counties Manukau police.
