A person is trapped and another injured after their car plunged more than 30 metres off a cliff outside Dunedin.

A police spokesman said the pair ''rolled end over end multiple times'', plunging down a cliff on George King Memorial Drive in Outram at about 11.20am.

One person is trapped inside the car, but is still conscious.

The other has managed to get out of the damaged vehicle.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter is en route to the scene.

A biker has suffered facial lacerations in an earlier collision with a car on Danseys Pass Rd at 11am.
