Man charged with prostitute attack
Police have made an arrest in connection with an attack on a sex worker in Christchurch.
A 20-year-old man has been charged with assault with intent to commit sexual violation and will appear in Christchurch District Court tomorrow.
Police raided a Phillipstown home and arrested the man today after information was received from the public, Detective Sergeant Grant Collins said.
The sex worker was allegedly assaulted by a man in Cambridge Green, a small park near the intersection of Barbadoes and Salisbury streets, about 2.15am Friday.
Police were grateful for the assistance of the public and media, after photographs of a person of interest were published during the weekend, Collins said.
