A rugby jersey-wearing teddy bear was just the ticket Jocelyn and Owen Aitken couple had been searching for.

The couple were among the first to buy teddy bears at the Christchurch Doll Club’s annual national bear and doll show this weekend.

The Aitkens, who have been collecting teddy bears for about 25 years, added to their 100-strong collection with the Canterbury-clad bear and another wearing a dress.

Jocelyn Aitken said they had been on the hunt for a ‘‘nice rugby bear’’ for some time.

‘‘I couldn’t tell you why I collect them, but I love them,’’ she said.
