The winner of $14.4 million Lotto Powerball prize has checked their ticket in Christchurch and is en route to claim their winnings in Auckland.
The winning ticket was bought from Countdown in Ashburton.
Store manager Graeme Moody said he was rung mid-morning by territory representative Adrienne Todd, who said the winner had checked their ticket in Christchurch, but had decided to undertake the required paperwork in Auckland, where they could collect their winnings on the spot.
A Lotto spokesperson said the official line was that the prize money remained unclaimed.
The total winnings were comprised of $13,395,864 from Powerball first division and $1 million from Lotto first division.
It was announced on Saturday night.
