Water main bursts on Greers Rd
Significant delays are in store for some Christchurch motorists after a water main burst this morning.
The Christchurch Transport Operations Centre reported the water main had burst on Greers Rd, near Langdons Rd in Harewood, just before 6.45am.
Traffic was being detoured around Harewood, Highsted and Sawyers Arms roads, but there were significant delays, a spokeswoman said.
"We have heavy taffic from Northcote Road (Main North Road end) right through to the Sawyers Arm/Highsted Road roundabout," she said.
"We advise to avoid this area if possible."
Access to Langdons Rd was still available from Greers Rd.
Contractors were on site to fix the burst watermain, but the road was likely to be closed until at least 10am,the spokeswoman said.
Motorists on Cranford St also experienced delays this morning after five vehicles were involved in a crash about 7.10am.
A police southern communications spokeswoman said the crash happened between McFaddens Rd and Frasers St.
No one was injured in the crash and the road had been cleared by 9am.
No other traffic issues had been reported in Christchurch this morning, she said.
