The Government has announced a $15 million grant towards the $60m redevelopment of Christchurch's AMI Stadium for the Rugby World Cup.
Speaking at the stadium this morning, Prime Minister John Key said the 2011 World Cup was expected to attract a global TV audience of about 4 billion so venues had to be up to scratch.
The investment follows the $15m recently confirmed for development of a new stadium in Dunedin which is expected to be completed in time to host World Cup games.
