Christchurch police are appealing for witnesses after a man was attacked at a bar in Bromley last month.
Detective Constable Jayne Bretherton would like to hear from anyone who was at the Glenbyre Tavern at 10pm on Friday October 16.
The victim was playing pool in the tavern but was punched and fell to the ground as he tried to leave the bar.
He sustained a significant head injury.
The offender is described as a male Maori, aged 20-25 years of slim build.
He was wearing blue sleeveless overalls with elastic straps and a front zip, with possible patches of white coloured paint or concrete on the front of them.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable Bretherton on phone 363 7941.
