Readers respond with `UFO' photos

After requesting New Zealand's reports of UFO sightings last year, The Press asked its readers to send in their pictures of unusual craft.
A number of readers throughout the country responded.
Jonas of Wellington who asked for his full name not to be used, spotted a craft in the sky on July 17 2008.
He wrote via email, ''My wife and I were drinking coffee on the veranda, when she spotted what looked like an unnaturally low flying aircraft travelling roughly along the Broken Hill Road at around 90 to 140km/h at an altitude of about 400 to 500 metres.
''When I took the first picture I realised that it was not in fact an aircraft. I tried to take as many pictures as possible of the object, but after the third or fourth one, it literally disappeared into thin air. No smoke, no trail, nothing. I wouldn't have believed it myself if it wasn't for the pictures.''
The second photo was taken near Waikari in North Canterbury in 2008.
On 28 August, Peter Hackett took a picture of the sunset.
His brother Paul Hackett, who sent The Press the picture, said, ''He was taking a picture of the sunset and didn't realise there was an object there.''
The final set of photos was taken on Sunday, January 25 2009 in Somerfield in Christchurch.
The pictures first appeared on the Ufocusnz website last year.
The site describes how a witness observed a very bright light in the sky.
A witness grabbed a camera and took 17 photos of the light.
''As the witnesses watched the light move and change direction, they noticed that the intensity of the light had not changed, as one might expect the landing lights of a turning aircraft to do,'' the site read.
Founding director of Ufocusnz Suzanne Hansen said the images could be an aircraft.
After seeking advice from experts, Hansen wrote, ''Sometimes aircraft landing lights can be distorted by atmospheric conditions, and what the observers saw as an acute turn, could have been an aircraft turning from a position head-on to the observers, creating the illusion of a sudden sharp turn.''

cochrane_ufo, your photos are pathetic! Clouds and blobs! And "Orbs" are dust, and proven so if you care to google it, (I've done my own experiments).
CLOUDS for crying out loud. Strange clouds, but CLOUDS nonetheless.
I have taken litterly over a hundred hi quality photos of objects that continue to fly about in our sky's here. I started doing this type of "stake out" after a sighting in 1987 with 5 friends of mine. The sighting back then was unmistakable and believe it or not 25 years later I captured the same objects on film many times over. The origional recreation of 1987 is included in this short film. For whatever its worth I have nothing to gain by sharing these photos, and as of 2008 when this video was made I have had even better sightings and film and photos since. Really a hot bed of activity here to say the least.Unfortuanely the more one seems to capture on film the less their credibility is. Shame as anyone can do this I feel. Peace http://ca.video.yahoo.com/watch/2649936/7770079
ETs are here among us. Check the www.projectcamelot.org website and you will see for yourselves.
@ Organic Light - I believed in and followed this phenomena for years (about 25) before I gave up. I've seen so much Greer footage it's ridiculous. A quick search (at non woo-woo alien sites) uncovers some very intriguing information about just how cracked that guy really is - he's been ousted from
I'm not a "shill" for the anti-alien "disinfo" groups (that don't exist, by the way).
Go to google, look up: "Tim Printy" "stephen greer" disclosure <<< Click the "The UFO disclosure myth" and read it carefully from top-to-bottom and absorb all the info and see how much of a liar and exaggerator that man is.
...and I quote:
ne evening a 39-person CSETI workshop group descended on the beach, ran the CSETI drill under Greer's leadership, and took videos of what look like nothing more than distant lights passing over the water. The way Greer told it in a subsequent self published report, the group scored "a confirmed, close range, multi-witness... interactive encounter" with four UFOs that responded in kind when he signaled "with a 500,000 candle power light in intelligent sequences." "The sad part," grumbles Bruce Morrison, a local skywatcher whom Greer lists as a witness to this historic contact, "is that we were standing right next to him and we have everything on videotape and voice tape. Regarding his claims, let's just say he has a very, very bad habit of greatly embellishing what he sees."
Lately, several ex-CSETIans and former employees, put off by what one calls Greer's "bullying" style, have defected and started talking. The portrait they paint is of an egotistical fraternity president, the type of guy who believes mawkishly in the values he represents but doesn't much care about his pledges except as dues payers.
To be sure, some CSETIans are fully satisfied with the product—for example, Dorothy Ives, a member of the CSETI executive council, who says that her and her husband's initial assessment hasn't changed. "The first time Burl met Steve," she says, "he looked at me and said, 'This man is eminently sane.'" But lapsed members tell stories of behind-the-scenes tantrums (Greer reportedly got pretty hot after the Minnesota workshop, which lost several hundred dollars), expensive globe-trotting to spread the word, and rampant chintziness. Greer likes to moan about the financial sacrifices he's making to carry on CSETI's work--in a letter to Janice Williams, an Asheville woman who managed the CSETI office until last March, Greer claimed that "my income at present is LESS than [my family's] expenses for living"-- but the fact is that he isn't poor. Along with drawing a doctor's paycheck, Greer has several hefty real estate holdings, which he's in the process of liquidating. He and his family live in a 22-room Tudor-style home in one of Asheville's most exclusive subdivisions, Biltmore Forest; it's on the market for $698,000 (recently marked down from $725,000), and he's selling another home for $398,000. He also draws rent from the Asheville office structure that houses CSETI's international headquarters.
Check your facts and footnotes and realise how full of hot air he actually is. There's plenty of info on his discredited witnesses and the "smoking gun" bits of paper that actually mean NOTHING.
Scott #28, fair enough and thankyou for the clarification. I'm open minded about it as well, but reckon it would be easier to have actually gone to the moon than fake it properly. All the 'evidence' to the contrary I've found to be easily and prosaically explained (i.e. not requiring a conspiracy to exist) and just not convincing. And since the thread has been hijacked enough I'll leave it at that :)
Well with all the information or comments coming from every where I doubt very much that any of Us no matter what station You are in within our human society that any of us will ever guess or create a scenario of what our UFOnic friends are planning . One thing We can create a scenario on is they do want to create a panic so lets lay off Government Agencies and the answers that MAy come from them in the near future . You must remember that National security is there priority and that WILL NEVER CHANGE
The shutter speed of the auto-focused digital photo taken with a Sony Cybershot was 1/500. The aperture value was F7.1 and the exposure value was 0.0 Distance from the building was approximately one city block. The dark object doesn't appear to be a bird, so what is it? There is also a single point of light above the center of the longer side of the building. Satellite?
Considering the immense distances between planets that astrologers think can support life I think is is very unlikely that our planet has ever been visited at least not during the time where humans have walked the earth. the universe is so uncomprehendably (new word? :s) massive that there has got to be other intelligent life forms out there. Also considering there sheer randomness of human existence there may be a chance that we could be the only intelligent life forms in the galaxy
Dear "Al8atros #19". I am an Australian, and even I know that 'Piggy" wasn't the NZ PM in 1951. Crikey...he didn't even get elected to Parliament until 1960. He was PM from 1974-1984. As for the rest of your enlightening news..DART also refers to the Diabetes Australia Research Trust (worthwhile); Diversity Arrays Technology (huh?); Developmental Assessment Resource for Teachers (also worthwhile)..but your meaning..(worthless)

Until one has seen with there own eyes, you will remain a skeptic. it will be just a cloud or just a trick of light or a computer rendered picture. I have seen with my own eyes and heard with my own ears an object passing above me and out to sea.It was not a plane or anything I had ever seen before but a unidentified flying object..the second time I had a witness.
