Animal advocacy group Paw Justice is offering a $1000 reward for information about the shooting of a dog near the Waimakariri River.
The adult bull-terrier was found conscious on Saturday morning by a passer-by. The dog, which had been shot three times with .22 calibre bullets, was euthanised.
A post on the group's Facebook page yesterday said Paw Justice would give the reward money for information leading to the capture and conviction of "this heartless person".
SPCA Canterbury manager Geoff Sutton said the organisation was seeking information about the shooting.
