The car, carrying three passengers, went through a give way sign in Mossburn about 8.35am, and crashed into the rear of the bus. The bus flipped and was shunted off the road.
The passengers aboard the "AwesomeNZ" bus, travelling from Queenstown en route to Te Anau, were not injured. However, the 21-year-old male driver of the car, and a 17-year-old male passenger both received moderate injuries and were transported to Southland Hospital by ambulance. A 16-year-old male passenger had suffered serious injuries and flown to Southland Hospital.
Police say speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
