A road is partly blocked after a car hit a tree south of Christchurch.

A police spokesman said a car hit a tree in Lincoln Tai Tapu Rd, near the corner of State Highway 75, about 5.15pm.

The car bounced back and was blocking the road.

The female driver, believed to be in her 40s, suffered leg injuries and was taken by ambulance to Christchurch Hospital.
