Dunedin ratepayers will have to cover an $8.4 million budget blowout on their new stadium.
Independent reviewers PricewaterhouseCoopers today released a summary of its recent investigation into completion costs of the city's Forsyth Barr Stadium.
At a media briefing, it said those building the arena blew the budget by $8m.
There were millions in unapproved fit-out spending, construction administration overspends of $2m and a failure to pin down full University of Otago contributions.
The stadium's owner, the Dunedin City Council, is refusing to name who is responsible for the unapproved spending until it has reviewed the information.
