Missing American students found
LATEST: Two American students, who sparked a search and rescue operation in Arthurs Pass, have been found.
Police had serious concerns about the welfare of Alec Brown and Erica Klintworth, both 21, who were meant to return from a hiking trip at the start of the week but were reported missing by friends on Saturday.
However, the couple have been found and are being interviewed at Greymouth Police Station.
West Coast Search and Rescue Co-ordinator Sergeant Sean Judd said the pair had made some good decisions, such as not crossing a river, however their preparedness and attention to the weather forecast was lax.
He said they had also failed to leave written intentions.
The area they were in has had heavy snow and sub-zero temperatures for several days.
