Elmwood Normal School's restored war memorial has been unveiled. The school had been fundraising for over a year to restore the memorial which was damaged in the February 2011 earthquake.
Principal Kevin Gooch told The Press last year that the school needed to raise $22,000.
The memorial, in memory of the 154 former Elmwood pupils who served in World I, was originally unveiled on February 26, 1921.
It was restored in 1995 by the Merivale Precinct Society and again in 2007 after vandals destroyed two of the panels.
