Police probe suspicious Sockburn fire
Police are investigating a "suspicious" fire that gutted a garage in Sockburn this morning.
The fire occurred at a Buchanans Rd property at about 1am.
A Fire Service spokesman said multiple calls were received, and when Harewood and Sockburn fire crews arrived the fire was "well ablaze".
He said the fire was being treated as a suspected arson and police were requested.
Fire Safety officer Graeme Reid, who investigated the cause of the fire, said it was "suspicious".
"There was no power on in the garage. No car. There was no reason for a fire to start. There may well have been a theft from the garage as well. Police are looking into it," he said.
