Frog Rock victim named
Police have released the name of the man who died at an incident at Frog Rock on Sunday.
He was Graeme Michael Holmes, 43, of Christchurch. The father-of-three will be farewelled at a service in Burnside on Thursday.
Police and ambulance staff were called to the well-known rock formation at Weka Pass near Waipara about 6pm after a body was seen by a passing motorist.
Holmes' body was found below Frog Rock in the southbound lane of State Highway 7.
A detour was put in place on the highway while emergency services staff attended the incident.
The Westpac rescue helicopter and an ambulance were called to the scene, but the man was already dead.
Police said today that the death was not considered suspicious. Detective Sergeant Rex Barnett said the death would be referred to the coroner.
