RUMBA RHYTHM: Dancers Sarah Nolan and Brian Dibnah, both 17, will perform a ballroom rumba at the 2012 Asia Pacific DanceSport Championships in Christchurch.

Christchurch will host some of the world's best dancers at the 2012 Asia Pacific DanceSport Championships.

The competition will be held at CBS Canterbury Arena from August 31 till September 2, with contestants from 20 countries, including New Zealand, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Italy, Germany and Australia.

The competition will feature ballroom, Latin American, hip-hop and breakdancing styles.

"I have been dancing since I was 7," said contestant Sarah Nolan, 17, who does ballroom and Latin American dancing.

"I started in primary school. We did a production at school and we all had to do a waltz for Cinderella. I never stopped going into the studio after that."

She and Brian Dibnah, also 17, practise every day after school and at weekends.
