The fate of the earthquake-damaged Centennial Pool sits with Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee.
The Christchurch City Council was investigating whether it was feasible to temporarily repair the pool, but at today's meeting it put the investigation on hold pending a meeting with Brownlee.
That is because Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (Cera) chief executive Roger Sutton has advised the council that as the pool lies within a designated area, Brownlee would need to approve any repairs.
Sutton said Brownlee's decision would be based on whether the repairs prevented or hindered the development of the eastern frame.
"If temporary repairs can be completed within a time frame that does not affect delivery of the eastern frame anchor project, then Cera would be willing to consider this as a short-term measure,'' Sutton said.
