A woman has been flown to Christchurch Hospital by helicopter after a crash at Methven.

A car went off Arundel Rakaia Gorge Rd about 4.20pm.

A police spokesman said it appeared the car had a hit a power pole.

The Westpac rescue helicopter flew the woman, believed to be in her 40s, to Christchurch Hospital with a serious head injury.

A person was taken to hospital after being knocked off their mobility scooter in Christchurch today.

The accident happened about 3.45pm at the intersection of Sparks Rd and Hoon Hay Rd, near the BP service station.

St John took the person to Christchurch Hospital but it was not known how serious the injuries were.
