Man's body found at Burnside cemetery
Police are seeking help to identify a man found dead in a cemetery on Saturday.
Detective Senior Sergeant Tony Hill confirmed this morning the police were seeking assistance from the public to help identify a body found in the grounds of Waimairi Cemetery in Burnside.
The body was found by a member of the public around 8.30am, Hill said.
"Inquiries into the death are continuing, but at this stage there are no indications of suspicious circumstances. The death has been referred to the coroner.
"At this stage we have not been able to identify the deceased, and his description does not match any current missing person reports.
"We would appreciate any assistance from members of the public who may know of someone matching the description."
The deceased was described as Caucasian, about 18 years old, of slight build, weighing about 70 kilograms, and about 1.75 metres (5ft 9in) tall, with short brown dreadlocks.
He was wearing a black zip-up hoodie, a black t-shirt, long grey trousers and black trainers.
