Car and train crash near Dunsandel
LATEST: A woman has been freed from a car after it collided with a train in Mid-Canterbury.
The woman escaped with moderate injuries from the crash shortly after 2pm in Frasers Rd, between Irvines Rd and Main South Rd, south of Dunsandel.
The Westpac rescue helicopter flew the woman to Christchurch Hospital for treatment. Details of her injuries have not been released.
A police spokesman said the car appeared to have hit the train while driving through the intersection at Frasers Rd.
He did not know how many people were in the car.
