Man sought after bank robbed

LATEST: Christchurch police are looking for a man after a bank robbery in Woolston this afternoon.

Officers were called to the ANZ bank in Ferry Rd about 3.20pm after alarms at the branch were activated.

Detective Sergeant Al Lester said a man entered the bank carrying a bag and approached a teller demanding money.

A small sum of money was taken and the offender left the bank.

The female bank teller was not injured.

"Bank staff have followed correct procedures and acted very sensibly in this incident," Lester said.

Police are working with the bank to access security-camera footage.

The offender is described as a male European in his early 20s, tall and of medium to slim build.
