Alleged bank robber still on the loose
An alleged bank robber labelled "not the smartest of criminals" is still eluding police.
The man, who was carrying a bag, approached a teller at the ANZ Woolston branch in Ferry Rd on Monday afternoon and demanded money.
He made off with a small amount of cash.
Security footage of the man appeared on press.co.nz yesterday, and Detective Damon Wells said police had received two phone calls since then.
Police were investigating "a couple of leads", he said.
Security footage showed the European man, believed to be aged in his early 20s, smiling and making no attempt to cover his face.
Wells described the man as "not the smartest" of criminals.
"We have good, clear images of the alleged offender," he said.
"Somebody will know who this man is and we urge anyone with information to come forward urgently to help us identify him."
Anyone who can identify the offender, or who has information on the incident, is asked to call Wells on 363 7859.
