A non-profit sporting organisation hopes to rejuvenate Christchurch's eastern suburbs with indoor sport.
Rawhiti Community Sports has set up a new indoor netball and football court at the New Brighton Rugby Club.
"They lost QEII," Rawhiti spokeswoman Ruth Sarson said.
"It was a massive place for people to go to for exercise. There's never been an indoor netball place in Brighton.
"A lot of kids want to try indoor netball or soccer, but they have to go to Pioneer."
The court was smaller than a regular indoor netball and football court, so the game had been renamed "adaptaball" to reflect the adapting and changing of the community, Sarson said.
"I just want to let people in Brighton know this is here," she said. "I'm really hoping it will be [a rejuvenation for the community]. Those people out there need something like this."
