A fire safety officer is to investigate a blaze that engulfed a calf shed in Ashburton yesterday.
The fire occurred at a Singletree Rd property just after 6pm.
A Fire Service spokeswoman said two fire trucks and one tanker from Ashburton fire station attended.
When they arrived they found the single storey, 10m by 20m, shed "fully involved" in flames.
"Part of the building collapsed with the fire."
She said it was fortunate there was no stock in the shed at the time, only a tractor.
Fire crews stayed at the blaze for over an hour ensuring hot spots were dampened, the spokeswoman said.
She said the fire was being investigated to determine what started the blaze.
