Runaway quadropter found in field
A Christchurch man has found his "UFO", which disappeared above the city at the weekend.
On Saturday night, Michael Murphy lost his "quadropter", a remote- controlled helicopter with four propellers. The toy, which he dubbed his "pet", took him five months to build and was his "pride and joy".
He lost the quadropter when he was testing some adaptations, and appealed to the public for help.
He had calculated the 1.8-kilogram aluminium aircraft would have landed in Redwood or Papanui.
After the story ran in The Press, Murphy found his toy in a field near the Northlands Shopping Centre.
"I have successfully found my quadropter, thanks to a guy living in Papanui. I received 12 emails confirming the heading, and to see that my estimations were spot on made me pretty rapt," he said.
