Cantabrian claims $1m Lotto prize
One lucky Cantabrian is $1 million richer after winning Lotto's first-division draw.
A New Zealand Lotteries spokeswoman said the winning ticket was bought at Hornby Mall Lotto.
It is the third time a $1m winning ticket has been bought at the store since August.
The store has sold 21 prize-winning first-division tickets, two Strike four tickets and one Powerball first-division ticket since it opened.
"It's one of our lucky stores," she said.
The spokeswoman said the ticket had been presented at a retail outlet in the region yesterday.
The claims process was now under way, but it would take a few days before being complete, she said.
A young builder from Christchurch also had a run of good luck.
He had two Strike three wins in a row before winning $100,000 with a Texas Hold 'Em Instant Kiwi ticket, she said.
A Winning Wheel winner from Kaiapoi, who bought the ticket in Hanmer Springs a couple of weeks earlier, also claimed their prize this week.
The date of their spin has yet to be set, but they have the chance to win between $100,000 to $1m.
Three Cantabrians won $10,000 in the Bullseye second division, the spokeswoman said.
