Man killed in Ashburton crash named
Police have named the man killed in a road crash in Ashburton on Friday.
He was Graeme Mervyn Carr, 68, of Ashburton.
The crash occurred in Siberia Rd at Maronan, near Ashburton, about 2pm.
Ashburton police said initial inquiries indicated Carr lost control and his van rolled on the shingle road in windy conditions.
Carr was the sole occupant of the van, and no other vehicles were involved.
Inquiries into the cause of the crash are continuing.
Carr and wife Anne set up Versatile Homes and Buildings in Ashburton 20 years ago and the family franchise is now run by his sons Dean and Aaron Carr.
A death notice in The Press today said Carr was a "dearly loved and treasured husband, father and father in-law".
He was also an "absolutely adored and devoted" grandfather of five.
A service will be held for Carr on Wednesday.
