Police are seeking the driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal crash at West Melton.
Sean Christopher Frost, 43, died in Christchurch Hospital last Thursday from injuries he suffered in the crash.
A police spokesman said the vehicle hit a power pole near the intersection of Neave and Johnson roads on October 27 about 9pm.
Frost, who lived in Parklands, was taken by ambulance to hospital in a critical condition.
Constable Chris Caldwell, of Rolleston, said the driver of the vehicle, who was a disqualified driver, left the scene and had yet to be spoken to.
He said police wanted to speak to Cody Pierce, 21, of Darfield.
No decision had yet been made on charges, Caldwell said, because the investigation was continuing.
Anyone in contact with Pierce was asked to call Caldwell on 347 9248.
A death notice for Frost said he had worked at John Jones Steel for 19 years.
"[He] will be sadly missed by us all for his work ethic, quick wit and humour," it said.
His funeral service will be held at the Linwood Rugby Club on Wednesday.
