The passenger terminal at Christchurch Airport has been evacuated after a fire scare.
A fire alarm sounded about 3.50pm forcing everyone inside the terminal, including airport staff, to be evacuated.
However, an airport spokeswoman said it was just a "false alarm".
She understood the fire alarm had been triggered by construction work.
Airport staff were allowed back in the building before passengers, she said.
The public was allowed to the terminal soon after.
