A 23-year-old man has been flown to Christchurch Hospital after crashing his hang-glider in a Governors Bay paddock.
St John was alerted to the accident in Gebbies Pass Rd, near the Wheatsheaf Tavern, at 3.22pm today, a St John spokesman said.
The man had been flown to the Christchurch Hospital emergency department by rescue helicopter with leg and shoulder injuries, he said.
"He may have a broken leg," he said.
A helicopter crew, ambulance staff and police attended the accident.
Police had "no idea" of the cause of the crash and a spokesman said they were still investigating.
