Two dead in Lindis Pass crash

Two people are dead after a car and two motorcycles collided in Lindis Pass near Omarama.

The crash happened near Goodger Rd, about 20 kilometres north of Tarras, at 2.15pm.

A St John spokesman said two men died at the scene, and a woman with multiple serious injuries was being flown to Dunedin Hospital by helicopter.

Another woman, with serious injuries, was being taken by ambulance to Cromwell Medical Centre, he said.

The number of people involved in the collision is not known.  

A single lane is open at the scene and motorists should expect delays, police said.

There is no detour available.

Emergency services from Cromwell, Wanaka, Omarama and Otematata were called to the crash.

Serious crash investigators are investigating the collision.
