Soldier found after night in bush
A soldier spent a night alone in the bush after becoming separated from his group during a training exercise.
The man got lost about 10.30pm on the Heaphy Track in Golden Bay. He was a member of one of the four groups involved in an exercise in the area.
His platoon found him this morning.
A New Zealand Defence Force spokesman said earlier that two hunters had passed the soldier last night and said he "looked well".
"They saw him and said he was under a small army tent and looked in a good condition. They left him to it and noted his location and passed it on to authorities."
