A postie charged with stealing thousands of items of mail in Queenstown has appeared in court.
Philippa Lynette Lindsay, 32, postal worker, appeared before Judge Laurence Ryan in Queenstown District Court this morning.
She has been charged with theft in a special relationship between September 1, 2010 and November 9, 2012.
Sergeant Ian Collin asked for an extension to file written statements because there was significant police work still to be done.
About 17,000 items of previously undelivered mail were put into letterboxes this weekend.
Police were also tracing the senders and receivers of about 500 opened items of mail.
Lindsay was remanded on bail to February 14 for a post-committal conference.
