Christmas cheer drew out hundreds of Cantabrians on a chilly evening to Latimer Square as they awaited the lighting of the Telecom Christmas tree.
The crowds were entertained with Christmas carols and live music performances, and free ice creams were handed out.
Jeremy Kiel, 11, said his favourite part of the evening was the free ice cream. Friend Lydia Gee, 8, liked the Telecom elves.
The lighting of the seven storey tree had to be delayed because it had not been dark enough at 9pm.
