Suppression has been lifted on the name of the man accused of assaulting a 9-year-old schoolboy in Timaru last month.
The boy was found distressed and injured at Holme Station Bridge on November 15 at 4.20pm after leaving Oceanview Heights School at 3pm.
Matthew John Krouse, 26, of Timaru, appeared in the Timaru District Court today on a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He was remanded with no plea to February 12 for a post-committal conference.
At Krouse's first appearance on November 21, Judge Joanna Maze ordered a psychiatric assessment to consider his fitness to stand trial.
At that appearance, counsel J Lovely said Krouse's recollection of events was sketchy.
