Suitcase sparks Mt Cook bomb scare

A suspicious-looking suitcase sparked a bomb scare at Mt Cook National Park today.

A police spokesman said a suitcase which was deemed "suspicious looking" was discovered at a hotel on Larch Grove Rd about noon.

The Defence Force bomb disposal squad was sent from Christchurch via helicopter to investigate.

The spokesman said there had been "no real issue" with the suitcase, and it had been dealt with by the squad.
