Cantabrians look set to enjoy a Christmas Day with soaring temperatures.
MetService forecaster John Law said the temperature on Christmas Eve should reach 21 degrees Celsius and Christmas Day could have 26C.
Temperatures on Boxing Day should be even higher, with 27C expected in Christchurch.
Forecasters expect 25C today and a high of 28C tomorrow.
Blue Skies Weather forecaster Tony Trewinnard said Christmas Day was shaping up to be a cracker.
People should expect a ''typical summer'' northeasterly on December 25, with low cloud and sunshine.
