Driver escapes as car bursts into flames
Car bursts into flames in St Asaph StJOELLE DALLY
A Christchurch driver had to make a quick exit from his car this morning after it spontaneously burst into flames.
He was driving along St Asaph St when smoke started pouring out of the bonnet about 9am.
Police headed to the new central police station assisted and staff at the Subaru dealership used extinguishers on the car until firefighters arrived.
Senior Sergeant Scott Richardson said the driver pulled over as smoke started coming out of the bonnet, then it burst into flames.
Firefighters have brought the fire under control.
