LATEST: A man died near Invercargill this morning after his car crashed through a fence.

The 24-year-old man was killed after his car left the road and veered into a paddock in Lorneville-Dacre Rd.

Senior Sergeant Dave Raynes, of Invercargill, said the man's body was found some distance from his car and it appeared he had been dead for several hours.

He said the man was thrown from the car.

Raynes said police had not yet notified the man's family but believed he was an Invercargill resident.
