A Christchurch man has come forward after a man was reportedly seen peering into a Mairehau house on Tuesday.

After publicity on the incident, a 54-year-old man contacted police yesterday and is assisting officers with their investigation.

No decision has been made on charges, police said.

A member of the public reported seeing a man looking into a house near Walter Park about 5.30pm on Tuesday.

The man was reportedly holding up a cellphone, possibly filming, while doing an indecent act.

The man left the area quickly after being confronted by the witness, who described seeing the man leave in a Toyota Hiace van covered in V energy drink stickers

Police received several calls from the public after publicity on the incident.

Is the mayor correct to put libraries, pools and community facilities ahead of the Town Hall?

Absolutely, they're far more important

I think funds should be split between those facilities and the town hall

No, the Town Hall should be rebuilt first

Just demolish the Town Hall completely instead of rebuilding
