Man who threatened to set off device gives upANNA TURNER
LATEST: A man who barricaded himself in a Blenheim motel room and threatened to set off a bomb has been arrested.
A police spokesman said the man gave himself up to police about 1.30pm today and was in custody.
The incident had been "resolved successfully", he said.
Police had negotiated with the man for about four hours, and barking and shouting was heard coming from the motel shortly before the arrest.
Armed police were called to the Main St motel this morning after the agitated man threatened to set off an explosive device.
Emergency services were put on standby and the road was blocked.
Cordons are now being removed around Main St.
