Train death near Hornby 'not suspicious'

Police have confirmed the death of a woman struck by a train near Hornby was not suspicious.

Christchurch woman Sheena Louise Wright, 41, was hit by a train near the shopping centre about 4.50am on Saturday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Darryl Sweeney said investigators were continuing enquiries into the fatality after speaking to Wright's associates, and establishing her movements prior to the incident.

He said the death would now be referred to the coroner.
