Quad bike accident in Little River
A Little River farm worker has been airlifted to Christchurch Hospital with serious injuries after his quad bike rolled down a bank.
The Westpac rescue helicopter and the Little River volunteer fire brigade were called out to the private property at Harmans Track in Little River just after 9am.
A rescue helicopter spokesman said the man had been riding the quad bike when he lost control and it rolled on top of him and down a bank.
"He's in quite a serious condition and in a lot of pain."
The spokesman said the man was believed to be a contractor coming onto the farm, although details were still not clear.
The man, in his 50s, was flown to Christchurch Hospital's emergency department with serious chest and back injuries.
