Police have arrested an alleged toilet peeper for looking into ladies cubicles in a Hagley Park toilet block.

A member of public contacted police about 9am today after allegedly seeing a man looking over the top of male cubicles into female cubicles, at the toilet block on Deans Ave near Ayr St.

A woman, possibly a runner or jogger, had been using the toilets and ran off in a distressed state.

A 44-year-old man was arrested a short time later.

Police are appealing for the woman who saw the offender, or anyone else who witnessed the incident, to contact Constable Chris Healey on 374 1751 or the Christchurch police station on 363 7400.
