LATEST: A 7-year-old boy has been seriously injured in a boat explosion in Waikara Marina.
The boy and a middle-aged man have been flown to Wellington Hospital following the explosion, which occured just after 9am in the picturesque harbour just outside Picton.
A St John ambulance spokesman said the child has sustained serious injured to his leg, meanwhile the man is in a moderate condition.
A Fire Service spokesman said the cause of the explosion is still unknown.
The spokesman said crews were alerted to the explosion just after 9am.
